A letter titled “Youth Basketball League Transition” dated December 17, 2025, from Pocahontas County Schools. The letter announces that starting this year, 4th and 5th grade basketball will transition from a school-run program to a county-wide youth basketball league (PCYBL). It explains that elementary basketball is not governed by WVSSAC and will now be community-based, supported by volunteers and parents. The letter invites families to an interest and planning meeting on January 7, 2026, at 5:00 PM in the PCHS auditorium to discuss league structure, grade levels, rules, season schedule, volunteer needs, and equipment procedures. It lists reasons for the change, including aligning governance, providing equal opportunities, and increasing community involvement. Contact information for three school representatives is provided at the bottom.
The next LSIC Meeting will be Monday, January 5, 2026 at 4:30 PM.
