This winter has certainly kept us on our toes with its heavy snowfall and multiple school closures. Pocahontas County Schools, like other districts in the state, strictly follows state policies for making up missed school days.
Our main goal is to ensure that students continue to receive a quality education while keeping everyone safe during severe weather conditions. Should our area experience more inclement weather resulting in the cancellation of school, additional adjustments will need to be made. Due to the wintery conditions around the county and predictions for today, Pocahontas County Schools will be closed on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
We will now go to school on April 17.

Due to the National Weather Service predictions for snow and hazardous road conditions and reports from around the county this morning, all Pocahontas County Schools will be closed on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
We will now have school on April 16.
This is a reminder that students of Pocahontas County Schools will not attend school on Monday, February 17. This is a scheduled faculty senate and professional meeting day.
Evan Rose's bus is running about ten minutes late this morning.
Due to the ice storm warning, Pocahontas County Schools will operate on a three-hour delay on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
We hope everyone stayed safe today in the snow. The current conditions and forecast will have Pocahontas County Schools closed on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. This closure will result in attending school on Tuesday, April 15 during Spring Break.
Parents/caregivers are asked to complete an online survey about school climate—the learning and teaching/working conditions—to help guide school improvement efforts. The results of this survey will be used to make changes in their child's school to ensure a supportive environment for teaching and learning. The survey may be completed with any computer or device with an internet connection.
